Walter Davanzo: “Works on paper”
From October 6th to October 18th the Galleria Arianna Sartori hosts a new solo exhibition of the artist – painter, photographer and designer – entitled “Works on paper“.
The inauguration of the exhibition took place on Saturday 6 October at 6.00 pm in the presence of the artist.
The way in which Walter Davanzo exploits one of the characteristics that distinguish him, the predilection for recovery, is absolutely fascinating. Because Walter Davanzo likes to find pieces of furniture, small objects in the markets, in the attics, by the junk dealers who know how to tell a story, to be able to narrate in turn adding their own. Environments and furnishings to fix, adjust, reinvent, to make them live again, to amaze and excite those who see them. At the Ugly Duckling the furnishings are deliberately vintage, rediscovered and laid bare to show its original beauty.
For Walter Davanzo, paper is a tactile emotion, which marks the passage of time yellowing. Paper can be adapted in different forms: it is a bit like life, which we can shape according to events and occasions. In simpler words, paper has soul.
In this exhibition are represented on paper and with great immediacy, known figures of a recent past, protagonists of Italian and international culture, who are accompanied by men, women and common children all characterized by an essential brown sign. Walter Davanzo portrays his reference points, family, cultural, his passions and affections. They are portraits that tell of a transport and a sense of belonging that crosses the mind and heart in every sense, time and direction. Davanzo enters history and into stories with passion so it is natural to assimilate these images as part of our experience and recognize them: they are the characters of a story that dialogue with us today.
