“I see everywhere in the nature, for example in the trees, the ability to express and, so to say, a soul.”
Vincent Van Gogh
Padova confirms again itself as focal point for the arts. The cultural center San Gaetano, in Altinate street, in the heart of the city, presents until the 11th of April 2021 an exhibition intensely dedicated to Vincent Van Gogh.
“Van Gogh. The colors of life”: 96 works from various museums, among which we clearly find above all the Kröller-Müller Museum, followed by the Van Gogh Museum. Curated by Marco Goldin, with the organization of Linea d’ombra, this exhibition is a real journey to discover this great Dutch artist. There are also other colleagues who have somehow intertwined their personal journey with Van Gogh. Delacroix, Courbet, Millet, Hiroshige, Kunisada, Seurat, Pissarro, Signac, Guillaumin, Bernard and of course Gauguin. Added to these, there is Francis Bacon with three canvases that attest how Van Gogh also inspired many of the great authors of the twentieth century.
Five sections: The painter as a hero; The years of training. From the mine of Marcasse to the Hague; From Nuenen to Paris. A color that changes; A decisive year, 1888; Of moons and clouds. Van Gogh and the end of his journey. Five sections that make up the largest exhibition ever presented in Italy dedicated to Van Gogh. It is not only a parade of paintings and drawings, which still be well-known masterpieces, but more like a story, a path that step by step tells us about the life and work of Van Gogh, of course, but also of his time.
The catalogue contains a long essay by Marco Goldin, who has also just finished writing the book that accompanies this exhibition: “The life of van Gogh through the letters“, published by La nave di Teseo.
The AbanoRitz offers also for this event the Just Relax & Events promotion: a special rate for an overnight stay with breakfast and discounts to both our restaurants in addition to the spa’s one.
