“Art could not feign a simpler grace nor nature form a more beautiful line.”
James Montgomery
Spring and the desire to be outdoors. Flowers, lights and colors.
On our beloved Euganean Hills, just a few minutes from the AbanoRitz, a field has sprung up that brings us a bit of Dutch magic: an expanse with thousands of tulips of every sort and color. It is Marco Dainese’s idea, developed with his wife during these years of closures and lockdown.
Tulips usually bloom at the beginning of April, and you can see the progress of the flowering on their website. In order to make the flowering longer and thus enjoy the flowering field for at least 4 weeks, the owners of the Terra dei Livii decided to sow three kinds of tulips: premature, medium and tardive. Over 50,000 tulips of 16 different varieties are planted in 13 rows across the 10,000 square meters.
Reservation, which costs €4 during the week and €5 at the weekends, include two free tulips, after which baskets will be handed out at the entrance so that you can collect more tulips with family or friends and return home with a colorful and fragrant bunch wrapped at the end of the walk.
Terra dei Livii also offers fantastic honey and propolis thanks to 20 years of experience and passion for beekeeping.
Staying in the Veneto, one hour away from the AbanoRitz, in the province of Verona, is another Spring wonder: Sigurtà Park, 60 hectares of farmland that over the centuries has been transformed into a garden-park.
An earthly paradise to visit, with magnificent blooms coloring every corner and, among the most eagerly awaited, the tulips, so important to the park that they have become a real event called Tulipanomania.
But also butterfly trees, bignonias, cornelianas, irises, different varieties of roses, dahlias, Indian reeds, water lilies, lotus flowers, asters, impatients, sunpatients, coleus, sunflowers, hydrangeas, marigolds, zinnias, hibiscus syriacus, crocuses, hemerocallis, narcissus, hyacinths, forsythias, prunus, viburnum, begonias, mosses, fritillaries, alliums and peonies, a world that would make even Alice in Wonderland’s head swell with labyrinths, breathtaking views, glimpses, valleys, farms and colors that give you a taste of spring.
A magnificent excursion recommended for the whole family to be made by foot, by bicycle, by panoramic train, by golf-car or by shuttle. There is something for all ages and abilities, and the entire park is barrier-free, making it accessible to people with disabilities and pushchairs.
There are many treasures in the nearby of the AbanoRitz, and our concierge is at your disposal to help you organizing your stay to discover our territory, our region.
