“Woman, Muse, Artist”

The exhibition “Woman, Muse, Artist” will take place at Villa Bassi Rathgeb Museum from the 14th of September 2024 to the 12th of January 2025 and it stems from an in-depth study of the Museum’s permanent collection, with a focus on the works of Cesare Tallone.

Gender paintings, portraits and photographs bring the visitor to a reflection on the representation and self-representation of the female figure and on the role of women in the Italian society between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

The feminine elegance from Tallone’s eyes

The exposed works embody the essence of femininity, offering an intimate look at the relationship between the woman as muse and the artist. A kaleidoscope of images that become the emblem of a society in full transformation.

In this free and open context, some well-known portraits come to life, such as that of actress Lina Cavalieri from the Campari posters or the “scandalous” female nude from the early 1900s. Among the most recurrent subjects are the poetess Eleonora Tango, the artist’s wife, and her children Guido and Irene in the guise of shepherdesses, ciociare or housewives.

Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity for discovery and contemplation. We look forward to seeing you at the Hotel Abano Ritz, just a few meters from the Villa Bassi Rathgeb Museum, for a stay of beauty, culture and excellence.
