“Family is the homeland of the heart.”
Giuseppe Mazzini
AbanoRitz: just a Hotel on paper, but a big Home in the reality. A Home in which the Barillari-Poletto family, generation by generation, opening the doors to its Guests, has built its own identity under the sign of the hospitality and welcome. The past is tradition and the value of the tradition is passion for the progress. Everything relives in each detail, in each ambient, in each gesture: histories, familiar as architectonics, stratify creating a unique and affable atmosphere.
In this World Entrepreneurs’ Day, a jump on the past, a history that you can find and we invite you to discover here in the hall of the AbanoRitz as well, with a little exhibition. “This hotel is a home”. Evolution of a small, but big family business. Drawings, pictures and documents from the 60s to nowadays that let a positive nostalgy opening a window on the future.
Luigi Poletto and Emma Barillari, already family entrepreneurs, with the wish to build something by their own, thanks to their soul dreamer and meanwhile enterprising, they opened this magnificent reality.
November 1965 the beginning of the works. The Engineer Poletto, always elegant with his unmistakable papillon, full of life, creative, dynamic, a bursting with ideas that designs this structure from nothing, ideas and dreams turned into drafts that he would then redesign respecting the ground rules for all building plans. Next to him, Emma Barillari, pulsing heart of this reality, handsome woman, elegant, sociable, smiling, endowed with great humanity and understanding, always with the right attention for everyone which make all our Guest felling like at home, pampered, always waited and wanted.
The son and daughters, Terry, Ida e Simone, couldn’t be more different and, at the same time, complementary. Simone engaged himself soon, with success, with the journalism and the writing, meanwhile the two sisters keep on with the matriarchal family tradition. Ida, now director of the structure, mother and grandmother, rich in artistic-cultural interests, curious, brilliant, tireless and determined, since always involved in gender politics, she flanks her mum till the passage of the baton in 2005. She works with her sister Terry, mother as well, stubborn and human, attentive and creative, as her father was, responsible for the purchases of the Hotel, the quality standards and the different restyling.
Be an entrepreneur, it doesn’t mean just to have your own activity, but also and mainly to know how to take the risk, to grew up and keep up, assuming stress and incertitude, but without showing them to the others. Drew Downs, cofounder of Nuvango, says that “an entrepreneur is someone who prefers a life of boundless uncertainty to that of predictability and chooses to bet on themselves before anyone else.” For the same reason, speaking with Ida and Terry, shine through that the hotel has no employee, but coworkers that form a huge family, the one of the AbanoRitz.
This same family wait for you always and again:
