“Let us improve life through science and art.”
Virgilio
Padova is now the cradle of the science, and not just of the art, and this museum is proof of that. On the occasion of its 800th anniversary, the University of Padova leaves the city its greatest legacy: the Museum of Nature and Man. It is a journey through time that relates the human being and nature in evolution.
The Museum of Nature and Man in Palazzo Cavalli.
The Museum of Nature and Man is located in Palazzo Cavalli, a historical palace from the second half of the 16th century built at the Porte Contarine. In the past, this point in the city served as a connection between the inner Padova waterway and the waterway leading to Venice. Over the centuries, the palace was extended in order to meet the needs of the University of Padova, thus becoming an important museum venue today. The museum project has harmonised the spaces on the four sides of the palace, with a large courtyard, in order to favour the exhibition route.
The heritage of the University of Padova at the Museum of Nature and Man.
The Museum of Nature and Man preserves the heritage of the University of Padova, which counts more than 200.000 exhibits in the historical collections of Mineralogy, Anthropology, Zoology, Geology and Palaeontology. Only 3.700 of these exhibits are exposed on the three dedicated floors, with a modern, engaging, multimedia and interactive layout.
With the Museum of Nature and Man, the route that takes the city of Padova through the stages of the birth of modern science is significantly extended. Visitors can travel through time and space through the different geological eras up to the present day, amidst evocative frescoes and Baroque stuccoes, ancient artefacts and multimedia effects. It is an educational and cultural experience not to be missed by anyone visiting the city of Padova.
The AbanoRitz is located a few kilometres away from the museum and it is the ideal choice for those who want to enjoy a relaxing and cultural holiday. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the museum, enjoy an unforgettable experience in Padova and indulge in some healthy wellness.
