From December 12 to 17, Monselice turns into a film set for the filming of “A discovery of witches“, an American TV series produced by Hbo and Sky Europe.
The series is based on the successful trilogy of fantasy books by Deborah Harkness, which tells the story of Diana Bishop, descendant of a family of witches who rediscovers magic, and Matthew Clairmont, professor and vampire. The two young protagonists will be interpreted, respectively, by Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode.
A film set on the Euganean Hills
Some shots have already been filmed in Venice last week, while now it will be the turn of the Euganean Hills: not only Monselice, but also the fourteenth-century village of Arquà Petrarca.
In Monselice, in particular, shootings will focus on the area of the Castle and Via del Santuario, already adapted for the occasion to the setting of the story, with the removal of traffic signals. Just few gossips on the scenes that will be shot, for now we only know that it has been requested to artificially make it rain on the set.
Between detours and traffic closures, there will be some inconvenience for the inhabitants, but the whole operation remains “an important opportunity to grow the reputation of our city nationally and internationally“, as the Tourism Councilor Gianni Mamprin comments .
All that remains is to wait for the airing, to try to recognize familiar glimpses in the American interpretation of the walled city!
