Affresco Euganeo organizes Sunday, February 5th a trekking on the Euganean Hills, at the discover of an old road used by the trachyte diggers of a nearby quarry.
The trekking includes some ups and downs, some of them quite steep but that doesn’t require particular training. Maximum height will be 200m, the duration about 3 and a half hours. Comfy shoes are recommended, better if water and mud resistant. Difficulty and lenght could possibly be adapted to the partecipant’s needs.
Discovering the route
The route begins following the road of the trachyte diggers, up to an old quarry between Monte Alto and Monte Trevisan. Here you can notice how the geological landscape changes dramatically even in a hundred meters space.
Going up you reach the traditional “Bettola del Refosco“, a typical trattoria of the hills. Passing over, you find a creek that guides you through the woods, up to some ruins. Through a slope you reach the park of Villa Draghi, that could be visited for free with a tourist guide.
Getting back into the woods, among beautiful ups and downs with the city of Torreglia on the background, you come back to the digger’s road and reach the end of the route.
How to partecipate
The cost of the trekking is 10,00€ per person. Some reductions are available:
- 8,00€ for members;
- 5,00€ for kids up to 12 years old;
- free for children up to 4 years old.
Maximum number of partecipants is 20, to allow everyone to enjoy the trekking and keep the spirit of a place in which nature has to be preserved. Booking is required by e-mail at affrescoeuganeo@gmail.com or by phone at 3428587830.
The meeting point is via Volti in Torreglia, as shown on the map:
