Only six cities in the world have had the honor of hosting the Olympic Games more than once. The seventh will be Cortina d’Ampezzo, which in 2026 will once again shine with the five rings, seventy years after its first historic edition in 1956.
An achievement that is not only sporting, but also symbolic. Seventy years are not just a span of time: they represent a true cultural and social era. Italy, Veneto, and particularly the sectors linked to tourism have undergone extraordinary evolution during this period, transforming landscapes, economies, and lifestyles.
Today in Longarone, the President of the Region, Luca Zaia, presented the Olympic torch, the emblem of a journey that will once again place Cortina – and with it all of Veneto – at the center of the world.
But the Winter Games are not only about the Dolomites. The Olympics can become the driving force of a widespread revival, involving areas that already represent excellence in tourism and wellness. Abano Terme, for example, with its thermal district unique in Europe, is just over two and a half hours from both Cortina and Val di Fiemme, and the AbanoRitz offers specific thermal programs dedicated to the sporting world.
Thus, let the 2026 Winter Olympics become not only a celebration of sport, but also a new beginning: the symbol of a phase of growth and development capable of projecting Veneto and its tourist destinations – from the Dolomites to the Euganean spas – towards a future of renewed international prominence.
