As travelers seek eco-friendly alternatives to flying, train journeys are experiencing a revival. The growing demand for scenic and enjoyable trips, experiential rail services, and new trains with increasingly flexible schedules is redefining the concept of slow travel, blending nostalgia with sustainability.
Trains are not just a means to reach a destination; they are part of the journey itself: the vacation begins the moment you set off, enjoying breathtaking landscapes from the comfort of your seat.
A special train, the Thermal Train, will be inaugurated over the weekend of January 24–26, running the Milan–Abano route paired with a special package. A historic train will be used for the occasion, decorated with imagery of the spa area. The carriages, while modernized, faithfully replicate the iconic style of the 1960s and 1970s. www.trenodelleterme.com
This will be our “Orient Express”! At the THERMAE EUGANEE and the AbanoRitz, the focus is on rail tourism, making the train journey an integral part of the slow travel vacation rather than just a means of transport. Captivating carriages and five-star wellness in the largest thermal area in Europe: from unique and therapeutic mud treatments to warm waters for soaking and professional massages, all at the foot of the Euganean Hills!
The initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Treni Turistici Italiani and, of course, by the Ferrovie dello Stato, in partnership with the Terme Colli Marketing consortium, local Federalberghi, as well as local municipalities and the Lombardy Region. For the occasion, the Abano Terme railway station has undergone a major and highly significant restoration.
