The project  “We Wear Culture”

Using state-of-the-art technology, the project allows you to explore styles and looks from different eras, from the ancient Silk Road, through sophisticated Versailles fashion, to the British punk or stories that are the basis of the clothes we wear today. Iconic pieces that have changed the way of dressing up entire generations, such as Marilyn Monroe’s high heels or Chanel’s black dress, are brought to life thanks to VR (virtual reality) technology.

Fashion experts, curators and designers, as well as universities, museums and NGOs from all over the world have collaborated on the project, to show that fashion is part of our culture, constitutes a form of art and is the result of a true craftsmanship. Google’s state-of-the-art technologies, including virtual reality, 360 ° video, Street View tours, and high-resolution “gigapixel” images, have been used to preserve collections and make them available to everyone.

Villa Foscarini Rossi Shoe Museum

The Museum is located in Stra, along the Riviera del Brenta, within a 17th-century architectural complex built by architect Vincenzo Scamozzi. The manor house, restored in the neoclassical period and purchased in the late 1980s by the shoemaker Luigino Rossi, today hosts a collection of more than 1,500 luxury women’s shoes produced by Rossimoda from 1947 to the present day. The models exhibited are the result of his collaborations with the most prestigious fashion houses of the international scene, witnessing the skill of the workers, for whom this district is known, and emphasizing the evolution of the costume from the second half of the 20th century to our days through the footwear accessory.

The Foscarini Rossi Shoe Museum’s on-line contents include nine original and unusual footwear that are part of the rich collection of the museum, as well as a focus on footwear art in Venice. Also, with Street View help, online visitors can virtually walk inside the Museum and its gardens.
