“Art is not what you see, but what you show to the others.”
Edgar Degas
In this period of suspension, many art institutions have now joined the national and widespread campaign #StayatHome: a delivery of art. Brilliant and exciting because after having travelled around the world jumping from collections to galleries, passing through museums and archives, there is only one thing left to do: plan your next trip. Online lessons, quizzes, guided tours and detailed studies lead us to discover realities that maybe we did not know yet, that we did not know to be so close and that now we would like to see live, with our eyes.
The Foundation of Civic Museum of Venezia, making an example, every two days send a newsletter with a story, a work, a game and how they say, they do not do it “for consolation, but because art is life and life is art, as well”.
The 20th of April they spoke about The transparence of light. For those who know us, the flash is immediate: our precious Mirrors’ Hall.
The AbanoRitz is since always close to theatric-musical world and at the first floor, a hall has been created and used as a concert hall. Decorations were found by an antique dealer in the 80s and they are part of an ancient boiserie of the end of the XVIII century. The room was then custom built to accommodate them, but the real gem is the chandelier: an original Ca’Rezzonico.
As pointed out by the Foundation of the Civic Museums of Venezia, the Venetian chandeliers, in crystal, still be the most famous in the world, with candlestick arms, pendants and multicolored flowers. This is called “ciocca” and it was invented in the XVIII century by Giuseppe Briati, maker of the majestic chandelier of 1600 pieces of the Venetian Museum of the Eighteenth Century of Ca’ Rezzonico. In competition with Bohemian glass, the so-called Briati way was born, with brilliant and resistant crystals, adaptable to the hot processing.
The Mirrors’ Hall of the AbanoRitz regularly hosts artists from all over the world: from the classical by the professor Luisa Sello, periodic appointment accompanied by various artists known in the world of music, to the pop of Alessio Arena, singer-songwriter and writer also for our Super8, passing through the meditative calm of Paolo Borghi and his handpans. The Klyo Music Association, with different musical experiences and genres, and the International Zadra Prize, faithful to our grand piano Steinway. The list is long and we invite you to follow us to know more about the upcoming performances.
