At the AbanoRitz, the typical menu is designed to offer variety, balance, and flavor! It begins with a rich green buffet — a palette of about twelve different vegetables, both raw and cooked, to accompany an ever-changing appetizer. These range from selected cheeses to quiches or savory pies, and even delicious cold cuts served with pickled or oil-preserved vegetables.
The first courses — three or four different ones every day — celebrate Italian tradition with balance and lightness: soups, creamy vegetable veloutés, risottos, and every kind and variety of pasta.
An equally varied selection of main courses follows, to satisfy every palate: white meat, red meat, fish (always available), and a vegetarian or egg-based option, all prepared in simple yet refined recipes.
But beyond taste, eating well means taking care of yourself. It’s not just about counting calories — it’s essential to provide your body with all the nutrients it needs to stay strong and full of vitality at any age.
Proteins, in particular, play a key role. They are essential for preserving muscle mass, bone density, and cognitive functions, helping to slow down the aging process. This is also confirmed by new data presented at the National Congress of the Italian Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SINuC): a diet rich in protein and essential nutrients, yet low in sugars and calories, is one of the pillars for maintaining independence and vitality after the age of 60.
According to experts, protein requirements increase after 50. For example, a person weighing 65 kilograms should consume between 60 and 70 grams of protein per day. The best sources? Lean meat, fish, milk and dairy products, legumes, eggs, and whole grains.
Naturally, there is no universal formula — each person has their own needs and balance to find. After all, proteins nourish not only the body but also the mind.
