From 7 September 2018 to 6 January 2019<\/strong> in Venice<\/strong> Jacopo Tintoretto<\/strong> in exhibition with masterpieces already present in the city and important works lent by the great international museums to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of the Venetian painter<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The project, to which have contributed internationally renowned art historians and which sees the adhesion of the most important Venetian institutions, takes shape in a large exhibition<\/strong> that is being held at Ducal Palace<\/span><\/span> – Doge’s apartment<\/strong> and at the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Academy Galleries<\/strong> of <\/span>Venice<\/strong>. <\/span>In these two prestigious locations the 500th anniversary of the birth of Tintoretto is celebrated by the\u00a0Civic Museums Foundation of Venice<\/span><\/span><\/strong> with the exhibition Tintoretto 1519 – 1594<\/strong> at Ducal Palace and by\u00a0Academy Galleries<\/strong> of <\/span>Venice<\/strong><\/span> with the exhibition The young Tintoretto<\/strong><\/span>, in an integrated journey of extraordinary masterpieces from the main public and private collections of the world, while numerous paintings present in Venice have been restored for the occasion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tintoretto 1519 – 1594 at Ducal Palace<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

In the exhibition itinerary in the Doge’s apartment <\/strong>at Ducal Palace<\/span><\/span><\/strong> curated by Robert Echols<\/strong> and Frederick Ilchman<\/strong>, under the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli<\/strong>, you can admire 50 paintings and 20 autograph drawings<\/strong> by Tintoretto<\/strong>, lent by the great international museums, together with the famous cycles realized for Ducal Palace between 1564 and 1592, visible in the original location. The exhibition therefore allows us to fully rediscover the visionary, bold and unconventional painting by Jacopo Robusti known as Tintoretto as the son of a dyer, who challenged the consolidated tradition embodied by Tiziano, astounding and choosing to innovate: not only with bold technical and stylistic solutions, but also with iconographic experiments that marked a turning point in the history of Venetian painting of the sixteenth century.<\/span> The exhibition is co-produced with The National Gallery, Washington<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The young Tintoretto<\/span><\/span> at Academy Galleries<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The exhibition, dedicated to the masterpieces of the first decade of activity<\/strong> and to the fertile context in which he started his artistic career, is curated by Roberta Battaglia, Paola Marini <\/strong>and Vittoria Romani<\/strong>. About 60 works<\/strong> on display, from 1538<\/strong>, the year in which an independent activity of Jacopo Robusti is documented in San Geremia, to 1548<\/strong>, the date of the resounding success of his first public work, Il Miracolo dello schiavo<\/strong>, for the Scuola Grande di San Marco, today the pride of the Academy Galleries<\/strong><\/span><\/span>: an exciting path that reconstructs that extraordinary period of stimuli and experimentation thanks to which Tintoretto has profoundly renewed the painting of the lagoon, in a moment of great changes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
