Firms with a female leadership are stronger and more productive

Edy Dalla Vecchia is the new chairman of AIDDA‘s Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige delegation, the association that brings together entrepreneurs and women business executives.

The delegation has 30 members and is the third in Italy for the number of partecipants. AIDDA has always been committed to being a reference point for women who play roles of responsibility in Italian businesses, enhancing their work and representing them in a participatory way.

To support the new president for the next three years of mandate there will be Ida Poletto, Gabriella Amatori, Patrizia Bizzotto, Roberta Scanavin, Mara Tirapelle sky, Ombretta Zulian, Ornella Guarniero and Marzia Banci.

Female entrepreneurship

The results achieved by women in positions of responsibility are extremely positive, this is the analysis of the new President Dalla Vecchia. “Where there is a women’s leadership, companies are more structured and mindful of innovation and associative activity“, she commented.

The situation in Veneto seems to be moving in this direction, and more and more are the companies that recognize the strength and value of women in the workplace. This is also witnessed by the emergence of new associations linked to female entrepreneurship, with which a strong network can be established, not only among women but also among businesses.

Not everywhere however, the path to equal opportunities at the workplace is so advanced and the approaching of the International Women’s Day should provide an opportunity to reflect also on this wide margin of inequality, which precludes still many women to have access to the company’s top levels.

Fight gender stereotypes all year round

The Order of Psychologists of Emilia-Romagna stresses in fact how awareness should have a space in everyday life, because only in this way can one really create a culture based on equality of rights and possibilities, respecting and enhancing the differences between man and woman, without falling into masculinizing mental attitudes and behaviors.

Despite the enormous social and cultural transformations of male and female roles, there is still a profound and negative gender asymmetry, a de facto inequality of rights between women and men. It is not easy to modify deeply rooted cultural elements that affect the psychology of people and their identity, since they are cultural elements that also lead to the stereotypes of femininity and masculinity and the psychological and social representations of women and man.

Stereotypes influence behavior, choices and approach to reality, even unconsciously. Women, above all, should do a work on themselves to undo the inferiority position, which often is also experienced in romantic relationships. Feeling like man’s missing copies, they deny their own subjectivity, their own generating force – which is not only expressed in being a mother – and they remain a prisoner of stereotypes that want them subordinate and remorseful.

Recognizing themselves and being recognized with its own characteristics and singularities, praise and limitations, it is indispensable for one’s psychological health. The differences between man and woman, between person and person, are a wealth to be safeguarded and valued, while inequalities among all human beings must be reduced to total elimination to improve the psychosocial well-being of the whole society.
