The book

This book comes from three passions: art, cooking and cinema. Manuela S. Colombo is first of all a famous painter, then a cinema enthusiast, and also a very special cook. With this book she doesn’t simply offer advices on how to use yesterday’s leftovers and it isn’t just a cooking book, either: her recipes are actual artworks.

Her dishes aim to surprise and delight the eye of the guests, even before their taste. All her dishes are inspired by movies, a personal choice that follows the taste and the imagination of the author. There is a bit of everything: from sci-fi to romance; from western to erotica;from adventure to horror. The aim? To thrill the tablemates! Artistic plates, indeed, but that everyone can do because actually they are reinterpretation of typical Mediterrean dishes and the ingredients are easy to find. At the beginning of every chapter, a vegetarian recipe and suggestions on how to decorate your table.

The author

Manuela S. Colombo is born in Novara, where she attends an artistic high school and then the Architecture faculty. In 1989 moves to Lignano Sabbiadoro, where she opens a graphic design studio. Her exhibition “Specchio” (“Mirror”), on Marylin Monroe, has a great success both from the critic and the public. The same happens with her following exhibition “C’era un volta il pulp… Sergio Leone e Quentin Tarantino fratelli di sangue” (“Once upon a time, the pulp… Sergio Leone and Quentin Tarantino, blood brothers”). She’s been living in Rome for several years and continues to be active in the artistic field, with many exhibitions and artistic projects.
