Effectivness of inhalation therapy in respiratory diseases and ENT apparatus

Ear, nose and throat are precious sense organs, but also important communication routes through which our body opens to the outside world to receive life, air, sensations and stimuli.

But through these channels impurities such as viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust, noise and environmental pollution are creeping into our bodies and are responsible for ear, nose, and throat ailments. The number of respiratory disorders is progressively increasing, primarily due to the worsening environmental conditions caused by smog, pollution, active and passive smoking. Different “diseases” are now affecting the young and the not so young without distinction.

Inhalation therapies

The spa water based inhalation treatment, inhalation and aerosol therapies, help keep the ear nose and throat cavities hydrated and clean and prevents inflammatory processes that cause seasonal or chronic ailments. Special instruments break the mineral thermal water into small particles, nebulise it and change it into an effective treatment for upper and lower respiratory tracts.

Inhalation therapies have various purposes:

  • Antiseptic action
  • Stimulation of the ciliary body
  • Fluidification of the excretion
  • Normalisation of the respiratory mucus characteristics
  • Microbial reduction

The recommended treatment cycle includes 12 inhalations + 12 aerosols in 12 sessions. At our hotel, inhalation therapies are available every morning, Monday to Saturday, from 7.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

COPD, like other bronchitis, is among the pathologies for which a cycle of inhalations is recommended. In addition, for this specific pathology, the research of the Pietro d’Abano Spa Studies Center has also demonstrated the effectiveness of mud-balneotherapy treatment:treatments with Abano-Montegrotto certified mud increases the aerobic capacity in those treated and after 12 mud-bath therapy sessions the respiratory muscle seems to work more efficiently.

COPD is an illness of the respiratory tract characterized by an irreversible obstruction in the airways, with various in severity. At the time there is no effective cure, only treatments to control the symptoms and avoid dangerous complications. According to the WHO, besides being a growing ailment, COPD is one of the primary five causes of death in the world. One of the primary risk factors is cigarette smoking.
